Description

This course will provide the participant with the basic structural components of a non-profit organization including the IRS definition and different types of organizations. This course also discusses ways to stay compliant and mitigate risks though organizational manuals such as a board policy manual and board responsibilities. 

Learning Objectives: 

  1. Define the term nonprofit. 
  2. Identify three types of non-profit corporations based on IRS subsections. 
  3. Understand the IRS revenue thresholds for filing 990 returns. 
  4. Distinguish between board policy manual, procedures manual, and personnel manual.
  5. Identify at least three common roles of a board member.

As a CAE Registered Provider educational program related to the CAE exam content outline, this program may be applied for 1 credit toward your CAE application or renewal professional development requirements. 

Note: Applicants may use any program that meets eligibility requirements in the specific timeframe towards the exam application or renewal. There are no specific individual courses required as part of the applications – the selection of eligible education is up to the applicant based on his/her needs.
